For Sale 2 Tickets For Robbie Williams at the Etihad in Manchester Friday 2nd June

2 Seated tickets £90 each

Robbie Williams is taking his Heavy Entertainment Show across the country this summer – and the tour kicks off right here in Manchester.

Robbie, who was a member of Manchester boyband-turned-manband Take That from 1990 to 1995 and again from 2009 to 2012, will showcase songs from his 11th studio album The Heavy Entertainment Show, as well as dazzling fans with an array of hits from across his three decades-long career, which saw him become the UK’s best-selling British solo artist.

Thousands of fans will be descending on Manchester for the first of two huge open-air shows taking place this Friday June 2 and Saturday June 3.

If you include the record-breaking Progress Live with Take That (when he arrived on stage hanging upside down before launching into Let Me Entertain You, of course), this is going to be Stoke lad Robbie’s sixth stadium tour.

If you’re one of the lucky fans heading to the Etihad to see the Brit Award-winning Robbie, we’ve rounded up everything you could possibly need to know in one place to help you make it the best gig ever.

How do I get to the Etihad Stadium?

The Etihad is in East Manchester – not too far from the city centre but you probably won’t want to walk it there.

If you do decide to go on foot there’s a safe, well lit and signposted walking route available from Manchester Piccadilly Station. Follow the ‘City Link’ signs. It takes around 25 minutes to walk to the stadium from the city centre.

Otherwise, there’s a dedicated tram stop, Etihad Campus, right next to the stadium. Metrolink services run from the city centre to Etihad Campus and on towards Ashton. The journey time from Piccadilly is less than 10 minutes.

Tickets must be bought before travel, with an off peak return from the city centre priced at £3 for adults, £1.40 for children.

Check your journey details before travel at on the Metrolink website or follow @MCRMetrolink on Twitter.

There are also a number of buses available from all directions. Visit the Transport for Greater Manchester website for more information.

Where can I go for a drink before the gig?

Robbie belts it out at Knebworth

The Etihad has bars inside the stadium, although you’ll need to take cash as at some big gigs they don’t take card payments. There is a cash machine at the ground but the queues will be long so gig-goers are best advised to withdraw some money in the city centre.

Our tip for a pre-gig drink would be the Northern Quarter, at the Tariff Street/Stevenson Square end, nearest to Piccadilly so you’re not too far from the tram stop.

Here are a few of our top picks for food and drink in and around the area.

Rudy’s Neapolitan Pizza – Affordable, award-winning pizza with a good selection of craft beers and Italian wines – check out our review here (9 Cotton Street, Manchester, M4 5BF)

Cottonopolis – A stunning Japanese inspired menu and one of their cocktails has a glowing disco ball in it (16 Newton Street, Manchester, M1 2AE)

Tariff and Dale – A cool and contemporary bar and restaurant serving up sourdough pizza and sausage rolls (2 Tariff Street, Manchester, M1 2FN)

Port Street Beer House – A beer geek’s dream with one of the best craft ale selections in Manchester (39-41 Port Street, Manchester, M1 2EQ)

Common – Beers, gin and cake. What more could you want? (39 Edge Street, Manchester, M4 1HW)

Who is the support act?

Andy Bell and Vince Clarke of Erasure performing in New York (Photo: Noam Galai/Getty Images)

Robbie will be joined by the 80s synth supremos Erasure, who have a new album out called Would Be Gone. Who can resist absolute pop stonkers including Sometimes, Oh L’Amour, Chorus, Chains of Love, Always and Stop?

What are the stage times?

Stage times have yet to be officially confirmed but doors open at 5pm. We will update this page with more details as we have them so keep checking back as the gig approaches.

What will Robbie’s setlist be?

Here’s what we predict, based on Robbie’s most recent shows. He’s expected to air songs from The Heavy Entertainment Show so get ready to Party Like a Russian. And we think he might add his cover of Freedom 90 as a tribute to musical icon George Michael. And because he’s one for surprises, we’re hoping for a performance of Rudebox too.

Happy World Lindy Hop Day 26th May

Put on your dancing shoes and do the Lindy Hop, because May 26 is World Lindy Hop Day.

Also known as the jitterbug, Lindy Hop originated in Harlem, New York City in the 1920s and 1930s. The day commemorates Frankie Manning, who some consider one of the creators of the dance form.

Combination of Dance Forms

A combination of different kinds of dances, including jazz, swing, and tap, Lindy Hop is a two-person dance where the partners dance hand in hand or in an embrace to jazz music. Just as in jazz, there is some form of improvisation that takes place during the dance.

Going Through a Revival

Popular in the 1930s and 1940s, interest in the dance form declined until the 1980s when a number of dance groups around the world revived it by holding annual workshops, camps, and competitions.

How to Celebrate?

  • Learn how to dance the Lindy Hop.
  • Host a Lindy Hop dance party or participate in one near you.

Did You Know…

…that some people believe that the name, Lindy Hop, may have originated from the name of aviator Charles Lindbergh? Lindbergh was fondly called Lindy by the media and after he successfully finished his solo flight between New York and Paris, media headlines read Lindy Hops the Atlantic.

Win! A £10,000 Honeymoon To The Seychelles

Brides has teamed up with Hilton Seychelles hotels and Turkish Airlines to give you the chance to win a honeymoon to remember; a two-stop island-hop holiday at the Hilton’s luxurious boutique resorts in the idyllic Seychelles.

Touching down on Mahé, you’ll head straight to Hilton Seychelles’ adults-only Northolme Resort & Spa, where you’ll start your eight nights in paradise. Verdant jungle and turquoise seas abound; in fact, you’ll soon be rubbing your eyes – the mix of colours is almost too dazzling to believe.

Here you’ll stay in a smart King Hillside Villa and spend your days lazing around Northolme’s show-stopping infinity pool, which juts out above the ocean in a smooth curve. And when you aren’t basking in the bright sunshine, our lucky winners will go full board, so you won’t need to hold back at all while enjoying the foodie delights on offer. There’s something to suit every palate – why not indulge in the Island Mess with local tropical fruit and rum at the amazing al fresco restaurant Les Cocotiers? But – who are we kidding? – we’d spend most evenings reclining with a sundowner at the fabulous, panoramic Ocean View Bar.

Then it’s just a hop, skip and jump across the water to your mountainside retreat at Hilton’s Labriz Resort & Spa on Silhouette Island. Here you’ll find stunning scenery and mountain peaks turning black against the setting sun each night. Labriz has everything Northolme has – and more. This resort is home to one of the country’s largest nature reserves, and our winner will also be treated to a trek through the park, with expert guides pointing out exotic plants and animals along the way. But the highlight of the trek is likely to be the uninterrupted views at Belle Vue. Or perhaps the secluded beach of Anse Mondon, where you can cool off in the crystal waters at the end of the walk.

When you return, freshen up in your luxe Garden Villa and head directly to the jewel in Labriz’s crown: Grann Kaz, the ex-plantation house, which has been painstakingly restored to its former glory. This 140-year-old house – once home to the island’s owners – is nestled into the green hillside and has been transformed into a trad Creole restaurant. Standout dishes include the sublime marinated jobfish in banana leaf – everything on Grann Kaz’s menu is homemade or locally sourced, so it’s a must-visit unique dining experience in a grand historical setting.

Oh, and how could we forget to mention the glorious spas and diving on offer at both these five-star resorts? This double-whammy of a Seychellois holiday is not to be missed. Enter now for your chance to win a honeymoon you’ll never forget.
